Road Rage: Norwalk Police Officer Arrested In Connection To Incident Involving Woman

A Fairfield County police officer was arrested for allegedly throwing objects at a car and attempting to run it off the roadway during a road rage incident.

Norwalk Police Officer David Vetare, age 54, was charged on Saturday, March 9 in Trumbull around noon on Route 25 South near Exit 6, according to the Connecticut State Police.

The victim told troopers that Vetare, driving a tan GMC Yukon threw an object at her vehicle and began following her in an attempt to run her off the road, state police said.

Troopers later located the Yukon and made a traffic stop. During the investigation, state police said Vetare admitted his involvement and was charged with:

  • Reckless driving
  • Operating a vehicle with the intent to harass or intimidate
  • Breach of peace
  • Reckless endangerment

Vetare was issued a summons on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, March 20. 

Vetare is the third Norwalk Police officer to be arrested within the last month. 

Norwalk Officer Hector Delgado was arrested by the Bridgeport Police Department on stalking and harassment charges on Friday, Feb. 23.

Norwalk Sgt. Shannon Sherry, age 48, was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 16 by state police for an April 2023 crash on I-84 that killed a pickup truck driver.

According to Norwalk Police, Delgado and Sherry were both placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of their arrests. In addition, both are subjects of internal affairs investigations.

Late Tuesday, Norwalk Police Chief James Walsh said: "First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest reassurance to our community members: your safety and trust remain our top priorities.

"While recent events may cause uncertainty, I want to emphasize that these actions do not define our department as a whole. We are committed to transparency, accountability, and upholding the highest standards of integrity."
